Working Holiday Visa

Eligible young professionals from participating countries and territories have the opportunity to apply for an open and unrestricted work permit to live, travel, and work temporarily anywhere in Canada. Eligibility for this visa, including age limits, length of participation, and the number of times you may participate, depends on your country or territory of citizenship.

The Working Holiday category of International Experience Canada gives young people from partner countries an open work permit: work for almost any employer, in almost any role, anywhere in Canada, for 12-24 months. No job offer and no LMIA required. That flexibility is the whole appeal: change jobs, change cities, travel, and fund your stay as you go. The trade-offs are eligibility and scarcity: it's limited to certain nationalities and age bands, capped by annual quotas, and generally available only once.

Opportunities to remain in Canada and continue working beyond the validity of the working holiday visa exist and must be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, most usually involving the standard process through LMIA or LMIA-exempt pathways.
