The Global Talent visa is the UK’s premium route for people who are recognised leaders, or emerging leaders, in science, engineering, humanities, digital technology, or arts and culture. Unlike most UK work visas, it doesn’t require a job offer or an employer sponsor. You apply on the strength of your own track record, and once approved, you can work in any capacity: employed, freelance, or founding your own company.
The process works in two stages. First, you apply for endorsement from one of the approved bodies, Tech Nation (for digital tech), UK Research and Innovation (for academia and research), the Royal Academy of Engineering, the Royal Society, the British Academy, or Arts Council England. If you’ve won a recognised prestigious prize (Nobel, Turing, Fields Medal, etc.), you can skip the endorsement step entirely.
What makes Global Talent especially attractive is the settlement timeline. You can apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) after just 3 years, significantly faster than the 5 years required on most other work routes. For Concord clients building a career in the UK, it’s the strongest long-term option if you qualify.
Who is it for?
The Global Talent visa is for people who’ve built a serious track record in their field, whether that’s shipping products at scale, publishing influential research, leading engineering teams, or producing recognised creative work. In digital technology, this typically means senior engineers, CTOs, venture-backed founders, or professionals with measurable industry impact.
It’s also open to "exceptional promise" candidates, people who may be earlier in their career but can demonstrate strong potential. If you’ve raised funding, published in top-tier journals, spoken at major conferences, or contributed to significant open-source projects, you may already qualify. We see a lot of Concord clients who assume they’re not senior enough, only to find they meet the bar comfortably.
What are the requirements
Endorsement or Prize
You need endorsement from an approved body in your field (e.g., Tech Nation, UKRI, Arts Council England), or proof of a recognised prestigious prize.

You’ll need to provide evidence of your achievements, publications, patents, products, leadership roles, awards, or significant industry contributions.
Two-Stage Application
First apply for endorsement (2–5 weeks), then apply for the visa itself. You can submit both applications at the same time if you prefer.
