The Visitor Visa is for people whose passport requires a visa to visit New Zealand. It lets you holiday, visit family and friends, and study for up to 3 months. You can't work in New Zealand on this visa, unless you're working remotely for an overseas business.
You'll need to show you plan to leave at the end of your stay and have enough money for your trip, at the monthly amount INZ sets (a lower amount applies if your accommodation is already paid for). An acceptable sponsor can support you instead. Citizens of visa waiver countries can usually travel with an NZeTA, and Australian citizens travelling on an Australian passport need neither.
Immigration New Zealand sets its application fees, levies and processing times and updates them regularly, so we don't quote them here. Check the current cost and decision time for your situation with INZ's Fees, decision times and where to apply tool, and see the full requirements on INZ's Visitor Visa page.
INZ's busiest period for visitor visas is September to March, and it recommends not booking non-refundable travel until your visa is approved. Concord helps you confirm whether you need a visa or an NZeTA and prepares a clear, well-evidenced application. New Zealand matters are handled by Sejoo Han, Licensed Immigration Adviser (IAA licence 202400274).
Who is it for?
This visa suits tourists, family members visiting relatives in New Zealand, and people coming for short courses of up to 3 months. It's also useful for parents and grandparents who want to spend extended time with family.
If you're visiting for business meetings or conferences, other visitor options may suit you better, and groups of travellers visiting for a month or less may be able to use a Group Visitor Visa. We'll help you pick the right option.
